Far-ranging late storm lashes U S with snow and tornadoes

A massive late winter storm drenched the Midwest plains and Southeast with heavy snow dust and twisters. Fourteen inches fell on Crookston Minnesota, six to eight on nearby towns, while tornadoes killed a child in Mississippi and a woman in Missouri. Power outages and road hazards disrupted daily life across the region.

FPC backs Oxnard site for West Coast LNG terminal

The Federal Power Commission staff favors Oxnard California as the best of three proposed LNG import terminal sites. The plan calls for earthquake resistance to 7.5 on the Richter scale and environmental studies continue on Oxnard Point Conception and Los Angeles. Initial cargo would come from Indonesia with expansion possible to Alaska shipments. Oxnard would handle about 75 ships yearly.

Tanzania denies Uganda invasion claims amid Libyan aid talk

Nairobi reports Uganda's Radio Uganda claimed Tanzanian troops massed near the border while Libya offered to deploy its armed forces to support Uganda.
