Re-integration of the Convict conference in Lompoc

The California Probation Parole and Correctional Officer Association Santa Barbara Chapter with Santa Barbara County Probation Department and FCI Lompoc host an all day conference on April 13 at the institute. More than 300 attendees from law enforcement judicial systems probation and parole and social services are expected. The program includes inmate family discussions reintegration panels a slide tour and inmate group showcases. Lunch at the institute cafeteria seats one inmate and three conferees per table. Traffic deaths down in California January report

Highway Patrol Commissioner Walter Pudinski said January 1973 traffic deaths totaled 327, a 52 percent drop from January 1972's 346. He cited statewide hazards from heavy rains yet noted a downtrend, with deaths in patrol areas down about 20 percent from 208 to 167.

Veterans homeowners exemption rises to 1750 in 1973 74

Assemblyman W Don MacGillivray reminds district veterans to file for the homeowners exemption on their principal residence for 1973 74 as it increases to 1750 of assessed value while the veteran’s exemption stays at 1000. Filing with the county assessor runs March 1 to April 15, 1973. Those eligible may still claim the 1000 exemption on other taxable property.
