Coast panel stalls Exxon offshore project hearing delay
The State Coastal Conservation Commission approves another continuance for Exxon Exxon's offshore complex in the Gaviota Refugio area with a new hearing set for March 3 in Los Angeles. County Supervisor James M Slater criticized the delay after the panel previously moved the hearing to San Francisco. The protest centers on a marine terminal and beach area facilities within Proposition 20. Slater argued the pipeline option might reduce spill risk compared with tanker traffic along the Santa Barbara Channel.
