July Wedding Date for Carol Dorland and Christian Friis

At a family dinner at 317 South I Street it was announced that Carol Dorland will wed Christian Friis in midsummer. Dorland is a Bakersfield native and Knapp College of Nursing graduate serving as a surgical nurse in Lompoc while Friis, a Lompoc High graduate, served in the Navy and works at Lompoc Bakery.

Space Adventure At Lompoc Woman's Club Meeting

The Lompoc Community Woman's Club held a February 8 meeting featuring a "Space Trip" tour led by Educational Lecturer Mrs. Ivelyn Toor with art by Chesley Bonestell. Members viewed Earth from space and imagined Mars to the Moon in an arm chair journey.

Biblical Women Discussed at Alpha Meeting

Mrs Richard Henning presided for the Lompoc Alpha Literary and Improvement Club with a one o clock luncheon. Guest speaker Mrs Thomas Nelson of Berkeley spoke on Women of the Bible detailing figures such as Sarah Michal Abigail Mary Magdalene Martha Mary Dorcas and Lydia in a well received address. Announcements of section meetings were made and guests introduced including Mrs Annie McCormick and Mrs Ethel Burton from Santa Maria and Mrs Pierre Arreguy Santa Barbara County President of the California Federation of Women's Clubs.

Home Made Goods Sale By Lompoc Club Saturday

Home made cakes and foods go on sale Saturday February 18 as a project sponsored by the Lompoc Community Woman's Club. The Food Sale starts at 10 a m at the Sprouse Reitz store and pickup orders can be arranged by telephoning Mrs Erick Andersen or Mrs Victor Kolding.

Eagles to Host District Meet

The Fraternal Order of Eagles No. 1709 will hold a District meeting Sunday February 19 at 1:00 pm in Forester's Hall with representatives expected from Paso Robles San Luis Obispo Santa Maria and Santa Barbara. A full course ham dinner follows at 3:00 pm and is open to Eagles families and guests.

Miss Vanlerberghe to Wed Enos I Mello

Miss Vanlerberghe of 403 South L Street announces the engagement of her daughter Helen to Enos I Mello, son of Mrs. Mary Mello of 117 North G Street. Helen moved from Michigan 11 years ago and is a Lompoc high school senior active in FHA GAA and the School Service club. Mello, a 1955 Lompoc High graduate, recently returned from 11 weeks at Parks Air Force Base and will report to Warren Air Force Base in Cheyenne Wyoming for further schooling. The couple has not fixed a wedding date.

Community Member to Be Honored at PTA Founders Day

A Lompoc resident will receive an honorary life PTA membership at Founders Day next Monday February 20 at 8 p m in the Elementary School Auditorium. The event features Lompoc Players in a period skit and remarks by School Board member Kenneth Stillman on the tax and bond election.

4 H Club Selects Sing er Severettes as Name

The 4 H Club held a semi monthly meeting February 9 in the Community Center clubrooms with Virginia Signorelli presiding. The group chose The Singer Severettes as its club name, Ruth Glichon named scribe, and Mrs Mary Fairbanks urged members to wear white blouses and 4 H hats to meetings. Doris Cross was hostess. Members present included Lorraine Fairbanks Bonnie Edman Doris Cross Marlene Manfrina Virginia Signorelli Lyla Farlow Joan Vanterberghe Ruth Glid eon and leader Mrs Mary Fairbanks. The next meeting was set for February 23 with Bonnie Edman and Lorraine Fairbanks as hostesses.

Prima Ballerina to Perform Here in Lompoc

Marina Svetlova world renowned Prima Ballerina will appear at the Lompoc High School auditorium on Thursday evening March 1 as part of the Community Concert Association season. She rose to fame with Ballet Russe de Monte Carlo and danced leading roles in Swan Lake Paganini and Les Sylphides. Svetlova spent seven years as Prima Ballerina with the Metropolitan Opera and now tours with her concert group. The ensemble has played over 500 engagements in more than 400 cities in the United States and Canada with tours to South America and Hawaii.
