Santa Barbara General Hospital task force to study future

A county hospital task force will review all aspects of Santa Barbara General Hospital and report to the Board of Supervisors, with a possible April finish. The panel will consider adding a veteran hospital option for the tri counties after a letter from Mr and Mrs Nicholas Vrolyk. Census decline to 57 percent in January mirrors regional hospital trends.

County employees urge board action on salaries and conditions

Clarence L. Cunningham president of the County Employees' Assn. urged the Board of Supervisors to raise sub-standard salaries to competitive levels and fix deficiencies in working conditions affecting about 2,700 county workers. He warned morale and turnover issues if not addressed and offered to provide space in the Fringe Benefit for employee information.

Thief Steals Fire Chief Car Sparks 130 MPH Chase

A thief took a red fire chief’s car in Santa Barbara and led officers on a 130 mile per hour pursuit on U S 101 and a freeway. Police recovered the vehicle and arrested Marcus Koechig a 23 year old suspect after locating the car on a side road.

Teens Surrender After 10 Hour Dallas Bar Siege

Two teenaged gunmen held 20 hostages at the Inner Circle tavern in Dallas overnight before surrendering to their attorney and a police captain. They were charged with armed robbery and jailed on $50,000 bonds. One suspect, 18, a former mental patient, and 17 year old Robert Gordon of Dallas looted customers, then released captives in small groups as dawn approached.

Obituary for Winifred Davis in Santa Maria

Mrs. Winifred Davis, 72, died Monday in a Santa Maria hospital. Funeral services are Wednesday at 2 p.m. at Newhart Family Garden Chapel, with interment in Santa Maria Cemetery. She is survived by her husband L P Davis of Atascadero, two sons, a daughter, a brother, two sisters, seven grandchildren and five great grandchildren.

Washington says more federal funds for Lompoc Unified may be cut as legislation on ESEA Title 1 funding advances. Public Law 874 aid for off base military connected students could vanish, costing Lompoc about 751 159 dollars. President Nixon considers revenue sharing to fund ESEA programs. Butterflies are Free cast highlights at Rexburg college

ERIC Jackson son of Mr and Mrs Gaylen Jackson of Lompoc is chosen for the play at Ricks College Rexburg Idaho. The drama department plans two casts performing on alternating nights. A 12 year old girl Elizabeth Longley was admitted to Lompoc Hospital for observation after a bicycle car mishap at E Street and Cypress Avenue.

Lompoc Plans Annexation At Central Avenue And A Street

Preliminary steps in Lompoc aim to annex about 140 acres for a convenience center and two mobile home parks at Central Avenue and A Street. Public hearings by the Planning Commission and City Council would precede zoning changes and LAFCO approval.

Centennial fund grows as five new Century Club members sign

The Lompoc Centennial Committee reports $1,885.97 in the treasury after five new Century Club sign ups. There is $675 in outstanding dues from 17 members. Century Club members donate $100 per couple and gain VIP privileges for the 1974 celebration. The group discusses proposals from Rogers Co. of Ohio for professional celebration planning and possible Rose Parade entries. The next meeting is March 5 at noon at the Trade Winds Restaurant.
