Mercury in Tule Lake pheasants alarms California officials

A California wildlife official reports six pheasants from the Tule Lake area contained higher mercury levels than those in Alberta. Cost reduction program exceeds 50 percent limit

The 1st Strategic Aerospace Division Cost Reduction Program at Vandenberg Air Force Base surpassed its FY 1970 half year goal by 69 percent with 524 800 dollars in verified savings, driven largely by the 4315th Combat Crew Training Squadron. Rogers Begins African Goodwill Tour in Rabat

Secretary of State William P. Rogers wrapped up the first stop of a 10 nation African good will tour in Rabat. He met with King Hassan II after talks with Foreign Minister Boutaleb and Prime Minister Saraki and praised the Moroccan leader’s prudent policy. Rogers flies to Tunis tonight.

California tax plan would yield short term higher withholdings

Californians would pay 60 percent more state income tax in the first year of payroll withholding under Reagan's proposal, but 40 percent of the prior year’s tax would be forgiven later. Reagan unveils coordinated California summer jobs effort

Gov Ronald Reagan announces a unified state local plan to place youths aged 16 to 21 in summer work. He estimates over 45 000 will seek jobs this year and notes last year 325 000 found work through the campaign.
