Presbyterians to host George Matthews for lyrical sermon

The First Presbyterian Church at 1600 Berkeley Drive will welcome George Matthews of Los Angeles as guest worship leader for a lyrical sermon featuring church music favorites and Negro spirituals. Matthews, a trained tenor and former YMC A devotional hour soloist, will share his faith through word and song.

Missionary Convention Opens At Local Church

The Christian and Missionary Alliance Church begins its annual missionary convention this Sunday with Rev. Larry K. Bell on furlough from Indonesia. He and his wife have served four years in Indonesia and will present news of Christian work across the 3,000 island nation. Bell leads an 11 am service and a 7 pm slides show. his family attends in costume. Other speakers include Rev. John Van Patter from West Kalimantan on Tuesday and Wednesday at 7:30 pm and Miss Grace Patterson from Guinea, West Africa on Thursday and Friday evenings. The conference closes Sunday February 16.
