Explosion at Fort Ord Theater Injures Seven Servicemen

Eyewitnesses described a ten by four inch device with a timing mechanism and a dramatic flash. Army ordnance experts investigated the scene as servicemen and families were evacuated.

Photographer turns to scratchboard fine art career
George Johnson a former professional photographer now focuses on scratchboard to create fine art pieces. He uses double exposure to render figures like the 12 apostles and Christ and has a catalog of 21 scratchboard drawings plus other works. Johnson, retired from the Air Force in 1964, hopes to mount two solo shows and continues developing intricate 6x8 to 11x14 inch pieces through patient, hour-long sessions.
