First Candidates Forum Draws Lompoc Residents
About 100 citizens attended the first 1974 candidate forum at the Lompoc Library. Ten contenders for three City Council seats answered AAUW prepared questions and fielded audience queries. Incumbents Stevens and Lefkowitz and eight challengers participated. Gene Ashlock arrived late.

Fire officials investigated two similar arson cases in Lompoc within 43 minutes. A garage at 515 North C St owned by William Perry burned at 3:34 a.m., then a truck at 416 North C St damaged at 4:17 a.m. by a wick in the gas tank using a highway flare.
