Weekend Weather With Tide Timings Now Forecast
Weather remains mild through Saturday with 60s to low 70s highs and nights in the 30s. Variable winds 5 to 15 mph. Saturday low tides at 6 28 a m and 6 51 p m. high tides at 12 34 a m and 12 27 p m. Sunday and Monday tides show similar patterns with multiple high and low tides. Astronauts return on their 1 213th orbit after resolving a rocket leak just before reentry.
Storm drain bids come in well below city estimates
Bids for the Lompoc storm drain project came in far under the city estimates. The full project bid of 703 559 by O Shaughnessy Co. beat the total by 56 441 and the backbone bid of 457 017 by N M Pipeline Co. undercut staff estimates of 490 250. City officials see potential for contracting the entire project at once to save money and speed relief for Hapgood Elementary School and flooded intersections. The council will review bids at the February 19 meeting with funding proposals to follow.
