Dear Abby readers weigh trust and heirloom diamonds
A reader questions trust after a husband buys two pairs of identical earrings one given to an old colleague at work and lies about it. Abby advises trust hinges on truth and condemns lying. In another letter a couple welcomes an adopted baby and rejects comments about “your own.” Abby suggests deflecting with pride in the chosen path. A third writer considers an engagement ring heirloom with a clause to reclaim the center stone in divorce. Abby explains the diamond stays in the family and approves accepting the arrangement.
