Oklahoma judge punishes jury duty skipsters in eight cases
District Judge Homer Smith sentenced eight offenders to three days in his courtroom without pay for failing to respond to jury summonses. Four more were issued warrants for contempt and failure to appear. The judge warned excuses like lost notices or busy jobs would not excuse nonappearance without effort to contact the court.
