Meadow Oaks residents lose bid to abandon Santa Ynez Avenue

Forty five Meadow Oaks property owners on Samantha Drive fought to abandon the 60 foot Santa Ynez Avenue road behind their homes. The effort, led by Richard and Anne Pigman, aimed to prevent an old county road from serving the Hardin parcel and creating traffic and value issues. The OEQ found no significant impact, and the dispute moved to the County Subdivision Committee with a proposed private drive alternative.

Accused Killer McBride Faces Hearing in Lompoc

Michael Lynn McBride 21 of 125 South K Street faces a preliminary hearing in Lompoc Municipal Court Friday on charges stemming from the stabbing death of his wife Kerry Robin McBride 17 last Dec. 12 or 13. He surrendered in Cleburne Texas the following day. Kerry's body was found stuffed under a bed in their shared apartment. Time of death not disclosed.

Sadat Criticizes Carter On Palestinian State Stance

Egyptian President Anwar Sadat said he was surprised and disappointed by President Carter's rejection of an independent Palestinian state, warning it would delay Middle East peace. Incumbents Mayor Charlotte Benton E C Stevens and Elinor Lefkowitz plus Tom Green Denise Marshall and Alberta Morgan filed. Deianna Buroker was disqualified for a petition circulating by an unregistered voter. Two others Day and Beckett did not file by noon.
