Cabrillo High School dropped to 0-3 in the Ventura Basketball Tournament with an 80-52 defeat by Santa Clara Saints. Santa Clara led 45-23 at halftime and coasted to the win as Cabrillo struggled from the start.

UCLA Bruins Put on Scoring Show in Classic Final

Browns shock Cowboys in 38 14 victory in the rain

Johansen CIF Player of Year Leads Pirates to A Division Honors

Santa Ynez fullback John Johansen claimed the CIF A Player of the Year and helped push the Pirates to the division title and a second place Tri Valley League finish. He totaled 1,613 yards on 277 carries with 21 touchdowns, plus eight two point conversions and strong defense as a linebacker.

Vikings Rally Past Rams For NFL West Title

In Bloomington Minnesota Joe Kapp sparked a fourth quarter comeback as he ran for the winning touchdown and Carl Eller delivered a key insurance safety to lift the Minnesota Vikings 23-20 over the Los Angeles Rams. The victory earned Minnesota the NFL Western Conference championship and a Jan 4 date with the Cleveland Browns in the league title game. The 12-2 Vikings trailed 17-7 at halftime but tightened on both sides to limit the 11-3 Rams to three points after intermission.

Orr fuels Bruins past Flyers in 5-4 NHL win

Bobby Orr scored and set up three goals to boost his league lead to 54 points as the Boston Bruins edged the Philadelphia Flyers 5-4. Orr opened the scoring and assisted on Westfall, McKenzie, and Sanderson goals, with Ken Hodge adding another for Boston. The win pulled the Bruins within one point of the Rangers.

Hancock Bulldogs rip San Jose City in Holiday Tournament opener

Sophomore guards Jim Clesson and Mike Jackson each scored 37 points to lift Allan Hancock's Bulldogs to a 104-78 win over San Jose City College.
