A Pacific storm drove 15 to 20 foot breakers along the southern California coast, eroding rock and sand sea walls and flooding homes. Ventura County bore the worst impact while piers from San Clemente to San Diego closed as more heavy breakers were forecast early today.

Storm Strikes California Coast Causes Flooding and Damage

Gale winds and high seas capsized a Navy patrol boat off the California coast. Three of seven sailors were hospitalized. A rock and sand sea wall was rebuilt at Point Huenemere and channels dug to drain water from homes. Breakers reached up to 25 feet last weekend flooding about 25 homes. a two story apartment was blown from its foundations.

Reward Offered After Dog Poisoning At Lompoc Two Show Dogs

The Lompoc Valley Kennel Club is offering a 50 reward for information leading to the conviction of the person who poisoned three show dogs two days ago. The pets owned by Larry Delinger a Lompoc High School teacher are recovering at a veterinarian hospital. An unknown assailant reportedly poured a strong acid on the dogs while the Delingers were away from home at 1000 W Oak Ave. Chemists and Dr Lyle Smith report acid damage with fur loss and permanent scars though the dogs are expected to recover. The victims include a Great Dane and two miniature wirehaired Dachshunds. The Great Dane suffered the most serious injuries and one Dachshund has been released from the hospital.

Lompoc Planning Commission schedules two public hearings

Lompoc planners will hold two hearings on use permits and a proposed park land fee ordinance. They will also discuss PG and E transmission line plans and a ceramics sale permit at 817 E Pine Ave. A retail nursery at 908 N H St is also under review in the C 2 R zone.
