Blood bank visit to Lompoc at Alpha Club

The blood bank will visit Lompoc on Friday from 4 30 to 6 30 p m at the Alpha Club. A Companions of the Forest of America meeting is set for December 22 at 8 p m in the Chemical Workers Union Hall 214 South 1 Street. Members should bring unwrapped toy gifts for the Christmas Cheer committee in Lompoc.

Recreation Commission to Meet Tonight in City Parks

Parks and Recreation Director Jack Anderson said a meeting of the Parks and Recreation Commission will be held tonight at seven in the administration room of the parks and recreation building. The session precedes a joint meeting with the city council Thursday at City Hall.

Teenager Sam uel Colhard Helps Suppress Mission Hills Brush Fire

County firefighters credit teenager Samuel Colhard of 1552 Calle Primero Mission Hills with extinguishing a brief brush fire on La Furisma Mission grounds. They arrived to find the youth had shoveled dirt onto the flames, noting children playing with matches caused the incident.

Obituary Grace Leach Haynes and Santa Barbara freeway hearing

Grace Leach Haynes 77 died in a Ventura hospital. A Catholic funeral is set for tomorrow at 2 p.m. at Ted Mayr Funeral Home Ventura, with interment at Ventura Cemetery. Survivors include two daughters Thelma McGill and Blanche Freitas, two sons, nine grandchildren and six great grandchildren. Also, the County Planning Commission schedules a public hearing January 21 to review a proposed new 4 million dollar major interchange on U S 101 at Hope Ave in Santa Barbara area with potential 3 million more needed for right of way.

County hearings continue as board backs assessor in several appeals

The County Board of Equalization wrapped a record number of property tax appeal hearings, upholding the assessor in some cases and granting notable reductions in others. Trading stamps buy Canaries dream ends in disappointment

Keith Baxendale and wife saved 400 books of trading stamps totaling about a half million to fund a Canary Islands vacation. They discovered the catalog change removed the go anywhere holiday, a setback they called a blow. A firm spokesman said they will consider the circumstances for possible relief.

City seeks up-to-date report on Lompoc Narrows Dam plan

Lompoc City Council requested an up-to-date status on the feasibility report for the Lompoc Narrows Dam from F. G. Macias of the Bureau of Reclamation. The Fact Committee for the project aims to update 8,000 petition signers and seek 60 to 90 day finalization, with potential inclusion in the 1971 72 Bureau of Reclamation budget.

Drug Abuse Committee to hear USC speaker

The Lompoc Drug Abuse Committee will host Robert Ratcliff president of USC School of Pharmacy Drug Abuse Committee to discuss drug use and prevention on Thursday night. The meeting at 7 30 p m in the Library multi use room is open to the public with a Q and A session and coffee served by the Junior Alpha Club.
