Demos Seek Court Block on GOP Redistricting Commission

United States Rejects Extending Offshore Territorial Limit

A State Department official said the U S will not back moving the offshore limit beyond 12 miles due to risks to commerce and defense. He warned a 200 mile limit could hinder ship passage and entry to key seas, noting several countries enforce such limits and have impounded U S boats.

Rangers clash near Katum forest border kills two Viet Cong

South Vietnamese rangers in a major operation against Khmer Rouge sanctuaries intercepted a Viet Cong force northeast of Katum and killed two guerrillas with no Vietnamese casualties reported. Separately North Vietnamese rockets hit a paratrooper base near Chrum with no casualties. The clashes occur as troops press into eastern Cambodia.
