Christmas Cheer program underway in Lompoc

The Christmas Cheer drive by the Lompoc Health and Welfare Committee gathers and distributes holiday baskets for needy families. Volunteers from the Fire Department repair toys at a warehouse loaned by Howard Moore while offices at 102 West Ocean Ave. and the Y.M.C.A. coordinate donations, donations due by December 10 and 15 for family gifts.

Native Daughters mark two special occasions

La Purisima Parlor 327 Native Daughters of the Golden West celebrated two events last week. Chris Hogan installed as president on her birthday. Gwen McCollum named outside sentinel. Election of Forest of America officers and Christmas events

Companions of the Forest of America Honda Circle 708 meet Monday at Alpha Clubhouse for officer elections. Past Chiefs Club hosts a Dec 19 Christmas party at Elaine Carlson's home 634 North First St with gift exchange. Edna Truesdale presided. A Porterville Hospital donation was approved for the children's party. Henrietta Thompson provided refreshments. Mrs Carlson won the door prize.

Plans announced for Rita Santiago and Robert Myrtle wedding

Rita Esperanza Santiago and Robert J. Myrtle have announced plans for their wedding. The couple will marry on Saturday December 22 at Lompoc Church of the Nazarene. Rita is the daughter of Jesus and Mary Reyes. Robert is the son of Kenneth and Myrtle. Both are 1973 graduates of Lompoc High School. Rita studies at Jon's Beauty College. Robert serves in the U.S. Navy and is stationed at Port Hueneme.

Capsule music school benefits Sweet Adelines

St. Andrew Methodist Church hosted a capsule music school on December 1 for Sweet Adelines. Bill Butler directed the East San Gabriel women's chorus with Joan Duke of Verdugo Hills assisting. potluck followed sessions. Flower Valley added two new members Sue Wolfing and Barbara Miller.

Filipino Club Dinner Honors Officials In Lompoc

The Lompoc Filipino Club hosted an appreciation dinner at Union Hall to honor local city officials and visiting guests. Indian dances closed the evening, with menus featuring Thanksgiving turkey, ham, pancit, lumpia and assorted desserts.
