California Legislature Advances Adjournment Amid Key Judicial Bills
In Sacramento the 1975-76 California legislature neared adjournment as Assembly-Senate panels rewrote over 80 measures. Bills would boost judges' workload and cut pay while coastal protection funding, end of life rights for terminally ill patients, and computer record review rules moved forward. Sacramento UPI reports Sen. Alfred Alquist will not seek an Assembly floor vote on a bill to sell the empty $1.3 million governor's mansion. Gov. Brown opposes the plan and may veto, saying the state would lose funds if sold below value and the new mansion plan is unwanted. The legislature adjourns today.
