Williams Named Bulls General Manager Succeeding Klein

Pat Williams former business manager of the Philadelphia 76ers was named general manager of the Chicago Bulls on Friday. He succeeds Dick Klein who organized the Bulls and will remain a director with a 20 percent stock stake. Klein resigned citing a difference in operating philosophy with the board.

Extra laps add spice to Labor Day auto races at Santa Maria

The Coastal Associated Rally Teams stage the August Agony rally Sunday in Lompoc with a noon start and 11:15 a.m. registration at Williams Bros. Shopping Center. Stock cars run 50 laps and jalopies 30 on a four hour course across Santa Maria, with a 50 point bonus and fatter purse on the line. The event features a straight up start and top 18 stock cars plus 20 jalopies in the main and a four hour race window ending in the Santa Maria area. Points leaders include Tom Atlas, Gene Preast, Darrell Walker, and Don Simkins. racing action begins at 7 p.m. with go-for-brake qualifying and trophy runs at 8:15 p.m.
