Gun tied to Black Panther in San Quentin escape
Alameda County investigators traced a 9mm Astra automatic bought in 1969 by Landon Williams of Oakland to the weapon used in George Jackson’s San Quentin escape bid. Williams, a Panther field marshal, was later jailed in New Haven on separate charges as the prison riot drew protests and calls for more guards.

Planner Divelbiss County official retires ends tenure
Last day for Herbert H Divelbiss as County Planning Director occurred Friday. Britt Johnson will assume the post Monday Aug 30 after Divelbiss resigned earlier this year. The search continues for a new planning commission secretary and ordinance division chief as Johnson leaves that role for the higher paid position.
