Mission Hills Family Day plans at Mission Hills August 31
Mission Hills Community Council announces a family day with an 10 a.m. start at Los Berros featuring football and soccer exhibitions and a 4 p.m. finish at the Mission Hills Community Building. Proceeds from a chicken barbecue fund youth programs with 10 cent game booths and ribbons for winners. Marilyn Plummer chairs the event and invites all residents to attend.

Lompoc City Councilman Sol Lefkowitz, a key supporter of the Lompoc Valley Chess Club since 1969, died recently. He sponsored youth programs and a perpetual Lefkowitz Family Trophy for Santa Barbara County high school varsity chess, won last spring by St. Joseph High School in Santa Maria.
