Discoverers Norm Silsbee group to meet in Lompoc

Daily records report that Norm Silsbee's Discoverers will meet Sunday at 4 p.m. in A to Z rental at 1206 W Ocean Ave to discuss plans to explore Lompoc Valley history. Silsbee's phone is RE 6-3616. Injured Air Force Sgt Seriously Hurt In Lompoc Crash

Sgt Emmett Young 22 at Vandenberg AFB suffered fractures of both legs when his car swerved off Route 1 onto Lompoc Casmalia Road. CHP says he accelerated while turning, crossed the road, fell down an embankment, and damaged the vehicle front.

Police report says a burglar gained entry to Lewis A. Grossi’s home at 1329 W Loquat through a window last evening and took $15 in change from a piggy bank while leaving over $11 on the floor. Red Cross seeking Betsy relief funds, Lompoc Chapter asks donations to 521 E Ocean Ave, with $611 targeted locally of $6,000 needed.

County Auditor A T Eaves Jr says he will ask questions Monday as county supervisors consider issuing 1.6 million negotiable notes for Goleta Union School District. He cites payroll deduction misuse with 49,738 owed and only 11,887 cash on hand. Bond bids to open Sept 22 for 250,000 sought after two 1966 series issues failed last week.

Northern Ireland government calls on Britain to send two Westminster MPs to the United States to counter Bernadette Devlin who plans a $1 million fundraising tour for Catholic victims.
