California approves regional sewer plant for Lompoc area

The state approves a five million gallon a day regional sewer plant to serve Lompoc Mission Hills and Vandenberg Village with eventual 12 mgd capacity. Construction could start September 1974 with completion by early 1976 and first phase costs at about 9 million funded 87 percent by state and federal grants.

Four Lompoc Athletes Injured In Highway 101 Crash

Four former Lompoc High School athletes remained on the serious or critical list at Ventura County General Hospital today after a Monday morning crash on Highway 101. David Farnum Jr. is in critical condition in ICU while Howard Lee Harrison Keith Landrum and Dallas Riley are listed in satisfactory condition, with Landrum and Riley out of ICU indicating improvement. Investigators say the car swerved off the road and rolled over possibly after the driver fell asleep at the wheel.

Seven named in Maryland GOP fund indictment not charged

A Maryland grand jury indicted the Maryland Republican Party fundraising committee on filing fraudulent financial reports. Seven individuals were named but not charged, including J Walter Jones a close friend of Vice President Agnew and Alexander Lankler the party chairman. The court will arraign the committee as a unit, with one member expected to represent it.

Santa Ynez River District files cease and desist action
