California dove hunting prospects described as excellent

The Fish and Game Department says the 46 day split dove season opening Labor Day offers excellent hunting. Reports show the largest dove population in years across Southern California and southern Inyo County. The first 30 day period runs to Sept. 30 and the second from Nov. 29 to Dec. 14. Mourning ringed and Chinese spotted doves may be hunted statewide. white wings only in Imperial Riverside and San Bernardino counties.

Thousands protest in Prague marking Dubcek anniversary

In Prague thousands demonstrated against the Soviet invasion with horns blaring and banners for Dubcek. About 15,000 filled Wenceslas Square amid days of clashes with riot police and troops.
