About 1 000 North Vietnamese troops captured the Cambodian village of Preah Tameak nine miles north of Phnom Penh in the heaviest assault on the capital’s outer defenses. Cambodian troops fought face to face as casualties mounted on both sides. no U S ground forces were involved.
