California racing bill abandoned amid tax plan clash
Sacramento UPI reports Assemblyman William T. Bagley abandoned his revenue bill for horse racing bonds after Reagan officials opposed any net state tax increase this year. The measure would have boosted track operators and breeders by about 11 million dollars annually while the state gained 2 million, but was dropped as conflict with the governor’s no new taxes pledge.
