Hollister ranch beach development wins planning approval

The County Planning Commission voted 8 to 0 to grant a conditional use permit and recommend rezoning 2400 acres of the former Hollister Ranch west of Gaviota for a recreation oriented complex. The Board of Supervisors must approve the agricultural to planned commercial rezoning before phase one begins. The plan includes a 1514 unit recreational vehicle park 200 Cabana prefabricated cabins and commercial areas in Balito Canyon and Drake Beach. The commission added school enrollment limits to keep permanent residents from arising and assures an adequate water supply.

Dayan warns US over Soviet missiles near Suez Canal

Israeli Defense Minister Moshe Dayan said Israel informed the United States that Soviet antiaircraft missiles nearer the Suez Canal violate the cease-fire. He demanded removal and said talks with the U.S. are to restore positions. Israel may review its three month cease-fire acceptance amid U.N. peace talks efforts. Egyptian officials reported Algerian troop withdrawal from the Suez front but pledged continued Egyptian military moves.

River Park land purchase eyed in 1971 plan near Lompoc

Acrobatic jewel thieves stopped by night fighting device
