Third Newton trial set in Oakland manslaughter case
Huey P. Newton must face a third trial on charges of killing Oakland Officer John Frey. Superior Court Judge William J. Hayes ordered a voluntary manslaughter trial for Oct. 12 despite defense objections and a possible Supreme Court appeal.
