Funding recommended for Drop-in Centers in Lompoc Valley
The regional California Council on Criminal Justice voted a do fund recommendation for an $18,997 grant to establish two youth drop-in centers in Vandenberg Village and Lompoc. Vietnamese bases attacked near DMZ raise tensions in war
North Vietnamese troops shelled and probed South Vietnamese bases below the DMZ in a coordinated assault. At least 34 soldiers from both sides died and two American advisers were wounded at an outpost south of the buffer zone. No ground activity by U.S. forces was reported. Astronauts honor fallen in memorial on moon
Apollo 15 crew David Scott Alfred Worden and James Irwin placed a plaque and a fallen astronaut statue in a moon crater to honor 14 dead spacemen from the U S and Soviet space efforts.
