Sergeant Killed in Headon Crash Identified

Lary J. Melcher, 36, an Air Force technical sergeant from Vandenberg AFB, died in a headon motorcycle collision on Highway 154 east of Armour Ranch Road. Frank Jensen of Santa Barbara sustained minor injuries. Jensen’s wife had a leg injury and was hospitalized. Funeral services will be held in Neligh, Nebraska, with Melcher’s residence listed as 306 W. North Ave in Lompoc. He had three sons, Steven Rodney and Randel, and lived in Lompoc for two years.
