Council upholds appeals board in officers case
Lompoc City Council decision keeps a three day suspension for former police officer William Landreth intact while ordering removal of the record from his personnel file. The 4-0 vote affirmed the June 19 appeals board recommendation after public proceedings. Landreth faced January incidents including alleged excessive force against motorbike youths and attempted dissuasion of a market security officer during a shoplifting arrest. Landreth resigned soon after. his attorney argued the record would hinder future employment as a teacher.
