Bardelli charges dropped end case in Lompoc case
Asst district attorney Loren Sutton announced the prosecution of Lompoc liquor store owner Philip Bardelli for soliciting murder has collapsed after Las Vegas investigators found little corroboration. Bardelli, 32, was jailed in Las Vegas on a Lompoc warrant and had been linked to a youth beer sale case and police detective John Coday. The Las Vegas jail testimony from two prisoners formed the sole basis for binding Bardelli over to superior court on solicitation to commit murder. Police Chief J D Smith expressed disappointment that the case did not proceed to Superior Court.
