City advances river park plan in Lompoc
Lompoc City Council, in three unanimous votes, approved a 45 acre developed area for the Santa Ynez River Park. The plan includes turf, picnic and equestrian areas, 120 car parking, two vista points, a north road extension, and land acquisition for an access road with Santa Barbara County building it for 34000 dollars.

In Vandenberg Village a five year old boy Christopher Pellant remained in critical condition at Marian Hospital Santa Maria after a car struck the two brothers on Milky Way. His eight year old brother Terrance suffered minor injuries. Driver Barry Haisten 19 was questioned and released.

Ford vows defense of Japan on Hiroshima anniversary
