Reichbruecke Collapse Kills Four in Danube Disaster
In Vienna the 38 year old Reichbruecke bridge broke apart sending a blue Ford into the Danube and killing four people. A bus driver and several passengers escaped with injuries as cars and a Romanian riverboat were damaged by falling girders and cables. Europe ends drought as crops still suffer across Europe
Europe’s record dry spell ends with near normal rainfall in parts of Switzerland and Britain but crops and livestock remain damaged. Spain loses 40 percent of its northwest grain, France halts 40 percent corn and 30 percent fodder, and Italy’s wine regions suffer million dollar losses from hail and rain. Britain faces its worst drought since 1725 and imposes water-use restrictions while warning of higher food prices and possible rationing.
