Signals at Mission Drive adequate as state board says
Solvang will retain two signals on Mission Drive though a third at Mission Drive and Fifth Street was rejected by the California Highway Commission. Only one accident was reported there in 1975 and none last year. The commission also removed the Mission Drive improvement from the six year plan, offering no timeline for reinsertion. Caltrans budget cuts halted design work on the project, while two new town projects proceed: a $32,000 Pine Street site-improvement and a curb and gutter job on Mission from Fourth Place to Fifth Street.
