County auditor reports property tax revenues near forecast

County Auditor Paul Floyd told the Board of Supervisors that current year property tax revenues are not falling short of the 183 million forecast. He noted March 31 receipts were about 6.9 million under estimates but later period collections should meet targets. He cited potential risks from hospital issues and delayed Medi Cal and mental health repayments, with refunds possible due to valuation losses in Goleta and Montecito.

Job Slots Open for Students in Lompoc High Schools

Lompoc area high schools offer 175 NYC Neighborhood Youth Corps slots for juniors and seniors from low income families. Allan Hancock College program helps students see college as profitable with summer work and tutoring funded by five hours of tutoring and up to 16 hours of work weekly at 1.70 per hour. Cabrillo, Maple, and Lompoc High will provide 8, 2, and 15 college co op slots and 42, 13, and 95 work experience slots respectively.

County to add two off road scooters for sheriff patrols

The county buys two MT 250 cc Hondas at 795 dollars each to aid deputies in pursuing noisy trespassers across Santa Barbara area. Delivery by Honda of Santa Barbara is set for May 1. Sheriff Carpenter has trained officers to ride the bikes as citations are issued to violators. Obituary for Alexander Nesbitt and Parker Child

Alexander Danville Nesbitt 55 died April 17 in Orland after a long illness. Interment April 19 in Orland. Nesbitt born Solvang 1919, raised cattle in Lompoc and farmed there until 1949. Survived by wife Carmen two daughters Irene and Carmen and stepson Manuel all of Orland and four sons Sandy Robert David and John of Davis. first wife preceded him in death 1956. Funeral services for Ridonia Parker 6 are pending at McPeek Family Mortuary Santa Maria.

Dwight E. Denbo of the Farmers Home Administration California says FmHA now offers insured loans and joint loans with private lenders and adds guaranteed loans made by banks and local agencies. Farmers may apply through FmHA banks or other financing sources with FmHA backing up to 90 percent of losses or the original principal.

William Franklin Magee 35 of Los Angeles faces court action for driving while intoxicated after a Saturday Solvang arrest and Lompoc Jail booking with a $750 bail.
