County approves sheriff substation contract at airport site
The Board of Supervisors accepted Collins and Fletcher Co. of Lompoc as low bidder at 248 700 for a sheriff substation and holding facility on Santa Maria Public Airport property. Six other bids ranged up to 288 000 while an alternate bid was 252 000. Public Works Director Norman H Caldwell said costs had risen since last year and the county could not beat the Lompoc bid.
