Allied officials say two campaigns in Cambodia with more than 8,000 government troops killed 245 Viet Cong and seized over 1,000 weapons. Across five Cambodia thrusts since April 12, 695 Communist troops were killed and 1,415 weapons plus 60 tons of ammo and 85 tons of medical supplies captured.
Fires heavily damaged two wings of Stanford University’s Center for Advanced Studies in the Behavioral Sciences shortly after anti ROTC protests ended. Estimated damage ranges from 50 000 to 100 000 dollars as arson is suspected.
About 50 top school officials attended a Masonic Lodge dinner honoring educators as part of National Public Schools Week. Clare Hess served as master of ceremonies and Supt. Glen Wegner and Arthur Timmer attended with district officials. Jobs Daughters spoke.
A U S Federal Court awarded Marianne Adams of Lompoc 235000 for the death of her husband Tony Adams a retired Air Force sergeant killed in a collision with an Air Force ambulance driven by Thomas Gagen Gagen a Lancaster resident was delivering an ambulance en route between Vandenberg bases at the time. The 39 year old Adams died February 2 1969 near Lompoc Airport after the crash and flood route changes delayed the ambulance. The settlement is said to be the largest in Santa Barbara County against the government.

Ronald Fouquet, 32, convicted of torturing to death his five year old stepson while his wife testified he drank beer and watched a cartoon. The verdict followed nearly nine hours of jury deliberation in Los Angeles.

The Teamsters announced at the UAW convention in Atlantic City that 650,000 truck drivers would vote on a proposed national contract. It calls for a $1.10 wage rise over three years and allows reopen negotiations if a higher Chicago settlement is reached.
NASA chief Dr. Thomas Paine told a Senate panel Apollo 13 trouble traced to a relatively simple component and should allow Apollo 14 to proceed on schedule. He noted telemetered data will identify causes, and Nixon supports continuing the space program.
UPI reports that U S and Soviet negotiators expect months of probing before any SALT breakthrough. Both sides hedge on weapon types to freeze, and on on site inspections. The coming three months will focus on sounding and clarifying scope and limits.
