Saving Marina Del Rey Harbor From Waves in 1963
In 1963 the Marina Del Rey harbor faced a cresting wave threat that could ruin years of work. Los Angeles County installed a Sheet pile baffle and, with federal aid, agreed to cover a $4 million offshore breakwater to protect the entrance. The harbor now houses 5300 pleasure boats and remains a major small-boat port.
