Avila Fishing Sees Strong Salmon Run With Bigger Bites

Ocean fishing from Avila reports a robust salmon run with many limits and fish in the ten to fifteen pound class. Harbor Associates says 68 boats returned with 117 fish including silvers and kings as conditions improve. DFG plans to boost salmon production by 15 million fingerlings and outfits rivers with new screens and diversions to aid survival.

Cabrillo girls set spike marks at Ver tura AAU meet

Cabrillo girls track team, among 200 plus competitors, set two school records at the Ver tura AAU open. Diana House earned second in the mile at 5 59.5 and Colleen Carter matched a record with second in the 440 at 63. Debbie Meyers added thirds in shot put and 220, while Meyers placed third in high jump. Deb bie Chapin won the 220 in 26.2 and was runner up in long jump. Cabrillo returns to host Santa Ynez next.
