The 1971 Vaqueros de los Ranchos ride gathers riders from Santa Maria to Lompoc at Manuel Luis Ranch in Los Alamos Thursday to Sunday. Trail rides start Thursday at 9 30 a m from Joe Machado's Ranch and conclude with a barbecue on Saturday.

Had Burger, local Chairman, announced 1971 Heart Fund in Lompoc has raised 3767 to date with a goal of 5000. Residential canvass from Feb 15 to March 15 yielded 3041 with mail returns pending. Other totals include Coin Containers 39.75 and Special Events 281. Burger praised community support and thanked media and volunteers.

Senate Advances 18 Voting Age for U.S. Elections
California Senate approves amending the U S Constitution to allow 18 year olds to vote in all elections by a 25 to 10 vote. California would be the 20th state to ratify with 38 of 50 states needed. If not done by June 1972 primary, costs could reach 5 million for separate registration and ballots.
