County road repair bill tops $200000 in Guadalupe area
Road repairs on 2.4 mile Brown Rd in Guadalupe area may exceed $200000 after heavy truck use tied to a 1967 sand mining permit. Road Commissioner Leland Steward urged the California Land Co to pay about half, but the board rejected the payments due to opposition from locals and the company. The road has broken down in places and a new roadbed was deemed cheaper than ongoing patching.
