Base helps Head Start by donating playground equipment
In December 1973 Kaia Hamel sought base support from Col Walter Carter Jr. for a Center at Peace Lutheran Church. The 4392nd CES offered a teeter totter and climbing bar, installed April 3 by a CES team, with refurbishing by carpenters, welders, and painters, highlighting a successful Defense Domestic Action Program community aid effort. A separate Monticeto area dispute saw supervisors approve a housing stable setback ordinance on first reading, banning private stables within 15 feet of rear lotlines and 10 feet of side lines, restricting new stables from 40 feet from human habitation and on lots under 20,000 square feet.

County to Open Bid for Two More Off Road Motorcycles
County authorities move to open bids Friday for two additional off road motorcycles for the Sheriff Department amid ongoing efforts to curb private land trespassing and noise nuisances. Special Services Officer Gambetta said bikes may arrive around May 6, noting price increases from about 695 to roughly 1000 dollars each. Sheriff Carpenter said deputies have faced mechanical issues with the initial two bikes purchased earlier this year and that four machines will be deployed across north and south county once operable.
