Second ag rezoning hearing set June 9
The Santa Ynez Valley planning commission will again hear the controversial agricultural rezoning proposal on June 9 in Solvang. A May 20 continuance was set but conflicts with a Future Farmers of America banquet led to the June 9 preference. The 480 attendees included the full commission, staff, and officials as debate over water supply and agricultural preservation continues.

Santa Barbara County faces rising court costs with deficits projected around 150 000 as deficits grow in the Superior Courts and Santa Barbara Goleta Municipal Court. Proposals to consolidate Carpinteria Montecito Justice Court with Santa Barbara Goleta Municipal Court District are under consideration. A new Lompoc Municipal Court started January with six month appropriation of 74 251, while the overall shift may affect payrolls witness fees and juror costs.
