Santa Barbara County sees 4% boost in 1970 retail sales

Retail sales in Santa Barbara County and cities are projected to rise 4 percent in fiscal 1970, adding about 4.75 million dollars to local coffers from the one percent sales tax. Cigarette taxes are expected to yield 799,650 dollars for the area under a 30 percent state split. Nationwide gains vary by county, with Orange at 12 percent and Marin at 11 percent.
