Crazy Hats Party for Officers Wives at USDB Club

The Officers Wives Club luncheon at the USDB Officers Club featured a spring themed spread with colorful flowers. President Mrs. Raymond J. Abernethy led the business portion after a baked ham meal and welcomed new member Mrs. Alfred E. Hunter. A contest awarded prizes for the most creative crazy hat.

Floresta Park to Plant Hawthorne Tree for Mrs Mary Saunders

The Lompoc Community Woman's Club will dedicate a young Hawthorne tree in Floresta Park on Saturday April 14 at 10 30 a m to honor Mrs Mary L Saunders longtime city librarian civic leader and first white child born in the Ompoc Colony A ceremony will include Rev Paul L Hall and Mayor Ray Jacobs with Mrs Erick Andersen presiding Joyce Nurseries of Santa Maria donated the tree which is expected to bloom white in summer and red in fall and winter

Grange Schedules Meetings This April

The regular Grange meeting is set for Friday at 8:00 p m in the Grange Hall. The Home Ec group will meet on Thursday in the same hall.

The event announced original creation and Mrs. Charles Brecher's bonnet as the most beautiful. The group scheduled its next luncheon for Thursday May 3.

Mission Temple Plans Country Store Card Party

Mission Temple No. 69 members hosted a potluck Easter social at the K P hall with Easter decor and bonnet contest. Lucille Woolard won the parade prize while Gertie Stater led a business meeting planning the County Store Card party for April 21 at 8 00 pm with White Elephant Bingo prizes.

Miss Laura Cautrell to Wed John W. Stearns in Searcy Arkansas

Laura Cautrell, granddaughter of Jess Bevill of Searcy, Arkansas, and Bart Cantrell of Mt. Ida, is teaching in Lompoc. John W. Stearns, grandson of Whitaker and Stearns families of Massachusetts, is with Rodgers Seed Ltd and active in civic affairs. The couple will wed July 14 at the First Methodist Church in Searcy.

Altar Society Plans Sunday Food Sale

The La Purisima Altar Society chaired by Mrs. Erminia Manfrina and Mrs. Pete DeSoto will host a food sale in the Parish Hall after the 9:00 a.m. and 10:30 a.m. Masses on Sunday April 15. Menu includes homemade candies cakes pies salads baked beans and other foods.

Catholic Daughters Enchilada Sale Details

Enchilada lovers may order through the Junior Catholic Daughters by phone before Saturday April 14 or pick up at the Parish Hall after noon that day. Delivery is available. Enchiladas cost 35 cents each or three for $1.00. Miss Barbara Rowe will supervise preparation.

On Friday April 20 at 10:00 a.m. in the Memorial building Josephine Williams Home Adviser will present a demonstration on the Low Calorie Meal. Public invited with RSVP to Mrs Jack Wall. Prizes for Raisin Pie Contest in Fresno

Amateur bakers can win cash prizes in the California Raisin Pie Baking Contest to be held in Fresno on May 6. First prize is 150 dollars with three other prizes and 25 honorable mentions. Miguelito Chapter Plans Public Schools Week Event

Miguelito Chapter O E S held an April 10 meeting at the Odd Fellows Hall with potluck by Ruby Howerton and committee members Clara Westrope Linnie Jennings and Lawrence Howerton. Alice Ramos and Robert Chilson led a brief business session, Calla lilies decorated the hall, and Lawrence Howerton provided organ entertainment. It was announced that on April 24 Public Schools Week will be observed with Charles Lockwood, superintendent of Lompoc schools, invited to address the group at 8:00 p m in the Odd Fellows Hall.

Home Extension Day Planned for Solvang May 1

Plans for Home Extension Day in Solvang on May 1 were announced by Mrs. Hazel Martin UC extension agent. Miss Mabel Harris will headline with a demonstration for the National Dairy Industries. Lompoc handles tables and a luncheon today at the Orchard House Santa Ynez to discuss arrangements. Mrs. Richard Henning will represent Lompoc, and volunteers to judge 4-H sewing at Achievement Day in Santa Maria on May 9 may contact her.
