Mission dedication as National Historical Landmark at La Purisima
The La Purisima Mission will be dedicated as a National Historical Landmark at 2 30 p m with local and state dignitaries in attendance. The Mission Advisory Committee led by Dr Pearl Chase sponsors the event and crafts of the California Spanish period will be demonstrated in costume. A plaque honoring the designation will be unveiled at the ceremony supervised by Mrs Alfred Ramming.

Army lieutenant rescued after 10 days in Viet jungle
U S Army Lt Brian M Thacker was plucked from Fire Base 6 by five American helicopters under heavy anti aircraft fire. He had fled into the jungle during the base siege March 31 and walked back to safety as the base was retaken. He was taken to Pleiku hospital in very weak condition.

Pope Leads Way of the Cross At Vatican Colosseum
