Lompoc Council to Consider Health Planning Association Endorsement

Lompoc City Council will consider endorsing the County Comprehensive Health Planning Association, a local arm of state and federal health agencies created to identify and resolve community health problems. The group aims to involve consumers, providers, and educators, conduct regional health research, and coordinate public education and facilities planning. UCSB Chancellor Vernon I. Cheadle would be president, with Lou Garcia on the board pending council approval.

Santa Ynez District Board to discuss dam releases and seawater plan

The Santa Ynez River Water Conservation District Board of Directors will meet at 8 p.m. tomorrow at 3622 Sagunto Street Santa Ynez to discuss a livestream agreement controlled releases of water at Cachuma Dam and seawater conversion. A separate planning session for a drug abuse clinic in Lompoc is set for April 8 at 7 30 p.m. at Prophet Coffeehouse West Ocean Avenue, with speakers who are former addicts. The day’s notices also report a vehicle crash in Lompoc injuring Michael Leck 19 of Reno Nevada a theft at Jalama Beach Park involving an expensive camera stereo and tapes owned by Roland J Northrup of San Jose valued at 270 and two other meetings including an AARP gathering at 1 30 p.m. at the Municipal Swimming Pool Ocean Avenue and C Street and a Lompoc Credit Women dinner at Del Norte Mobile Estates Recreation Room at 7 p.m.

Lompoc Kennel Club Sanctions Dog Match in May

The American Kennel Club confirmed the Lompoc Valley Kennel Clubs plan for a sanctioned obedience and confirmation dog match at Ryan Park on May 11. Nine judges are booked from Oregon Idaho and California with exhibitors from across the state and 200 to 300 out of town visitors projected.

Army court martial to convene at Fort Ord today

An Army court martial will convene at Fort Ord California as part of the mutiny case against 27 soldiers tied to a sit down strike at the Presidio stockade in San Francisco. Fourteen defendants are set to hear their charges today with Terence Hallinan representing them. Eight soldiers have already been convicted and sentenced for actions during the October protest.
