Poston Edged For Junior Open Title In Sudden-Death

Greg Poston and Steve Groves battled to a tight final after 36 holes at Mansfield in the 11th annual Mid America Junior Open. Groves won the championship in a sudden-death playoff following a late back-and-forth match in front of a top-field from seven states.

Mikes Named Grid Pilot As Parker Steps Down

Richard Mikes will return as Logan High School head football coach next fall replacing Lou Parker who steps down to stay as varsity assistant and LHS athletic director. Mikes previously coached Logan in 1967 and 1968, and at Ohio University last year. Mel Adams becomes Lima Shawnee assistant principal July 15 after resigning Zanesville post.

Six U.S. Tuna Boats Seized by Ecuador Patrol

Six American tuna vessels were fired upon and seized by an Ecuadorian patrol ship for alleged violations of Ecuadorian waters. Julius Alioto of San Diego reported no injuries.Edward Silva of the American Tunaboat Association said guards were posted and the incident was confirmed by radio.

Nixon forecasts troop withdrawals and inflation cooling

President Nixon said the United States could align with Clark Clifford's timetable for pulling troops from Vietnam by year end and promised another review in August. He projected inflation would ease within two to three months, warning that failure to curb price hikes would force other actions. Jurisdictional Hearing Set On Appeal Of Libby Lewis

A jurisdictional hearing is scheduled for Tuesday June 24 before the Ohio Supreme Court to decide whether to hear or dismiss the appeal of Mrs Libby Lewis who was convicted in Hocking County Common Pleas Court of conspiracy with intent to defraud Hocking Valley Community Hospital. Prosecutor Forrest Moore said such hearings determine if the court will hear the appeal. Columbus attorney James Bell aided Mrs Lewis in submitting the appeal to the Supreme Court. The state later submitted closing arguments in the John Sappington trial to Judge Robert G Tague of New Lexington arging the Lindsay Consulting Service aimed to profit from rendering few services.

Wisconsin Poised To Push Constitutional Convention

An Associated Press survey shows the Wisconsin legislature as the closest to approving a resolution calling for a constitutional convention to propose an amendment on legislative apportionment. U S spokesmen report more than 500 North Vietnamese troops attacked Firebase Ike, 15 miles north of Tay Ninh City, were repulsed after 75 minutes. Atomic Plant Labor Dispute Heard By Panel

The Atomic Energy Labor Management Relations Panel held a two day hearing on the Waverly Atomic Plant contract dispute in Columbus Ohio. Panel members are presidential appointees and can only issue recommendations to Local 3689 of the Oil Chemical and Atomic Workers Union and Goodyear Corp owner of the Waverly plant for the Atomic Energy Commission.
